Customer Service Assistant

Oct 2013 - Aug 2015
Working Customer Service at the Faringdon store had a wide ranging number of core duties that served to keep us challenged. This store was, at opening, the first of its kind from Tesco. Our core Customer Service duties included taking complaints and suggestions from customers and taking appropriate action based on the feedback we were given. The other key area of customer service was performing returns of unwanted or faulty goods, ensuring we kept appropriate records. We were responsible for areas beyond the usual scope of customer service, including supporting our security team with their checks and the non-grocery side of 'Click and Collect' - the internet service that delivered peoples' online purchases to their local store. This included signing the parcels into the store, delivering them to customers as they came to collect them and dealing with returns from this department as well. I also took the initiative to be trained in other departments, understanding that the more experience of how the store worked overall would increase my ability to help customers with queries or complaints at the Customer Service Desk. I left this role to begin my studies at UCLan. Show less

Volunteer Overseas Youth Leader
-
Aug 2006 - Aug 2014
A team of us go out to Dezna, Romania, every summer to run Youth camps and Children's clubs. We work closely with our Romanian counterparts, training the Romanian volunteer translators in children's work. With the development of local-run clubs, including a music group in 2013, the church has ceased sending teams out, recognising that this represents a shift in the relationship between the church and the town.

Intern
-
Sep 2012 - Aug 2013
This year long internship was part of a course called the Discipleship Year, run by the organisation New Wine, a course designed to equip, encourage and empower young leaders. My internship at Trinity mostly involved working within Prayer Ministry, where I helped develop resources for training events and was expected to help run the weekly prayer group and to research and implement ideas to use for a 24-7 prayer event in the prayer room, including helping to decide the overarching theme for the week-long event. This role became especially challenging in January 2013, when my supervisor left the church for a new role elsewhere. This situation left me in a challenging situation, which I was able to grasp hold of, taking charge of areas such as the prayer room. This was an especially challenging role, since it not only involved keeping the room in good order but also knowing what was going on across the church. I had to develop good relationships across the different departments across the church, with the trickiest aspect by far being communication with the missionaries that the church was supporting. Outside of the prayer ministry area, I was also responsible for beginning the process of creating a manual for the Operations team, who were responsible for keeping the buildings in good order. This involved shadowing members of the team and questioning them on certain aspects of their job. At the end of the year, I was a team member at the New Wine Summer Conference which involved assisting in seminars aimed at advertising the Discipleship Year to other young adults. Show less
