After settling into college, I decided to find myself a job to gain further experience in a working environment as well as to earn and manage some money. Having almost worked at the supermarket for two years, I have gained and improved skills, learning how to communicate with customers, work equipment and generally improve my work ethic, constantly wanting to improve on how I complete the tasks set in the workplace. As part of my college course I needed to find 37.5 hours of course relevant work experience. Therefore, I found an opportunity at the Avon and Somerset Police HQ, where I worked mainly alongside their End-User support team, tackling technical issues, but also learnt from their other teams, such as: - Web and Software Development - Networking - Information Security - Databases Overall, this helped me understand the type of tasks I may encounter and the people I would work with if I were to take a job in the IT sector. I worked as a temporary Shop Assistant, within a small store in Bristol, Gloucester Road This was a retail job that I had while on my work school experience. While there, I learnt important skills such as communication and advertising to customers. I have also learnt retail skills such as: Using a till, sorting and packaging orders and helping customers. This has in turn allowed me to understand customer problems and be able to organise myself in the workplace around me.
