His duty is to develope a coating system with proper architecture that could allow achieve such aim. It includes the tailoring the nanostructure of TiSiVN films deposited by HiPMS in order to optimize the matrix to control the lubricious metal realise. The mechanical properties, microstructural characterization and essentially the thermal stability and tribological behaviour are being evaluate. Deep study of the kinetics mechanisms occurring during coatings annealing are being carried out by TEM.

Final Project "Surface Modification of Molds and acessories for the Glass Industry", under the guidnence of Professor Albano Augusto Cavaleiro Rodrigues de Carvalho (full professor in the University of Coimbra) and Altino de Jesus Roque Loureiro (Associate professor with aggregation, at the same University). The thesis was already submitted for evaluation. The defense date is scheduled for October 2014. The project intended to develope coatings that can support harsh and high temperature conditions of use. In this research several coatings deposited by dissimilar deposition processes were developed and studied. It includes thick coatings (Ni-based coatings) deposited by PTA and APS processes and thin films (self-lubricant coatings - TiSiVN films), deposited by PVD. The student training was manily focused on the deposition of coatings and on its structural, mechanical, tribological and oxidation characterization.
