Helder Amaro
I worked with Fernando Cardao on two different instances, firstly reporting to him as my supervisor and then later at my current position as Head Project Controls for Mota-Engil Africa on a functional responsibility over the different markets. I was always impressed by Fernando's commitment and focus to every detail regarding the planning and control of projects, whether in a single project as well as leading simultaneously multiple projects. Besides his technical skills, I emphasize Fernando's management and soft skills to involve all stakeholders, taking care of their expectations, build a solid team, keeping it together, staying focus in order to pursue the same goals. Following his leadership, it was with no surprise that we were able to deliver the projects on budget, ahead of schedule and fulfilling all quality and safety requirements. It was a though journey, but with his performance-driven mindset it was the only possible outcome.

Mr Cardao was my superior during his tenure as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of MOTA-ENGIL Central Europe Česká Republika a.s. in the Czech Republic. He has always been tough and very demanding boss when it came to fulfilling working duties, but at the same time very nice person always taking care of others. Mr Cardao has been, and always will be, taking his job personal and give it his all, and I am not even referring to his splendid language skills.
