ITA's GMSN research group works on Condensed Matter theoretical field, mainly focused on "ab initio" material simulations for structural and electronical properties. My project is related to semiconductor alloy simulation, mainly on symmetry calculations which drastically decrease computational effort. It involves concepts of Group Theory, Statistical Mechanics and Quantum Mechanics for periodic potentials.

Introduction to large-scale solutions for personal and financial data processing, including statistical analysis and heuristic search and data linking algorithms. The scalable solutions will be developed using the High Performance Computing Cluster (HPCC) framework and the ECL programming language. The main activity is the experimental analysis of lightning connection to common buildings. Specifically, this project consists in the correlation of lightning's 2D and 3D geometry, electric field and current obtained with high-speed cameras and sensors located at the top of 60 meter buildings. A MATLAB algorithm was developed in order to tridimensionalize the geometry of a lightning using two images from high-speed cameras installed in two different observation stations. Another MATLAB algorithm was also developed in order to recognize the image of the luminous channel of a lightning in an image and retrieve its pixel guide line. This allowed the process of 2D and specially 3D analysis to be greatly improved and sped up. Co-author of the article "Lightning attachment process to common buildings" - DOI: 10.1002/2017GL072796. The group received a task of developing a software on the theme "Aedes aegypti", and it was given total freedom on the choice of technology and concept. We then developed a web app in MEAN stack which consisted on a surveillance tool for "ovitrampas" - traps used to infer the number of mosquitoes in the surrounding area. The work was conducted alongside with the town hall's department of zoonosis.
