In 2013, I started the current stage of my professional life and I joined Aliseda, the bank’s real estate subsidiary, where I started as the commercial director and later moved to corporate marketing director with responsibility for increasing sales. I strengthened ties with other real estate agencies, designed the web 2.0, improved the call centre and increased sales of real estate assets via the branches. When we finally reached our goal – to be a well-known brand – we created social networks and improved our communication process to reinforce the aims of the business. In brief, we contributed to a strong growth in sales from €635m/2013 to €1,380m/2014. Show less

Branch manager
-
2008 - 2014
In 2008, the third stage of my career started when I asked to return to the branches in a move to further my career. I was given the position of deputy director of the main branch in Madrid, with the largest turnover and 33 employees. After this, I became the director of a new branch, which was formed by the merger of two existing: Vasconia and Popular branches. I was then managing an increasing business with a staff of 14. Together the team and I made this branch the one with the highest growth and the best working environment in Madrid. Show less

SMEs office manager

2003 - 2007
In 2003, I was asked to create a department looking after SMEs, working within the group’s commercial department. This involved analysing segments of customers, signing agreements with different sectors such as driving schools, electricians, bakers, which represented a large number of self-employed and SMEs. We ran campaigns to attract new customers and new business for the bank. In 2003, I was asked to create a department looking after SMEs, working within the group’s commercial department. I was then promoted to commercial and marketing director of Popular’s flagship project at that time – the creation of an e-bank. At that time, other e-banks were already launching in Spain and we needed to face the competition. In 2000, only 13% of the Spanish population were internet users (81% in 2016). We designed a range of products, created a web site, and set up a call centre, all in just seven months. Working closely with the IT department, I had their complete support. In three years, the Popular e-bank was making a profit. Show less

Mar 1997 - Nov 1999
The next stage of my career saw me in my first management position in which I led a team. I was promoted to the role of national commercial director of investment funds, insurance and pension funds. At this time, the bank needed to introduce these new products to their customers through the bank network. This involved training and motivating employees and ensuring they had adequate product knowledge to push sales. We achieved our goals within the three-year plan. Oct 1992 - Feb 1997
In 1992, I joined Banco Popular and during the first six years I learned about commercial banking, customer service, promoting the banking business to self-employed and SME customers, as well as risk analysis. After this period, I was selected to work for the HR department for a year, interviewing people and analysing their careers. I was then moved to the project development department where I was analysing capital risk and venture capital. This first stage of my career in Banco Popular gave me a good overall understanding of the bank at a business level Show less
