  I worked as a researcher for Prof. dr. Fasli Jalal, Ph.D., Sp.Gk., the Former Vice Minister of Education and Culture from 2010-2011, as an advisor for the Minister of Education and Culture from 2016-2019 and in his capacity as the rector of the YARSI University.   Gerakan Kawal Pendidikan is a grassroots movement amongst education activists in the capital of the nation, Jakarta. It aims to be a facilitator between civil society such as university academics, non-government organisations, and professional organisations with local and regional governments in Indonesia in overseeing quality education policies in the regions for a dignified future. We provided workshops and guided consultations for the local and regional governments on the issues of planning and executing their white education papers. In this organisation, I worked as a researcher. As Indonesia is decentralising its governance, Indonesia's education and health sector are now in the hands of regency and city government. However, due to multiple challenges in these regionals, such as budgeting and human resources, the local governments cannot deliver the services mandated by the constitution. As a researcher, I categorised the government's ability to provide these services through the national participation index at every level of Education. We tried to communicate the findings with the local government and arrange the best workshops suitable for their condition on the ground. My duties were: ▪ Initiated, built, and sustained effective professional relationships with key external constituencies (including media, civil society, NGOs, academia, businesses, national and local government agencies, national and local parliamentarians, etc.). ▪ Identified the challenges or problems through research, placed the opportunities and forged strategic partnerships with local governments ▪ Designed and delivered workshops for these local stakeholders, designed explicitly for their needs based on their characteristics.
