As the first class of college graduates hired at AT&T in over 20 years, there was a lot to learn and adapt to. When I joined the company was going through a massive culture and technology change and being able to shape the future of AT&T was a major experience. Some of major projects and accomplishments at AT&T are: - Lead adoption to git from svn increasing team velocity by ten fold. - Migrated 1000+ server instances from At&t private cloud to AWS. - Built a Java task… Show more As the first class of college graduates hired at AT&T in over 20 years, there was a lot to learn and adapt to. Gistory was an internet news startup that provides complete, concise and contextual story briefs on an interactive world map. Working with the Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) and a core team on the business, editorial, social engagement, web development and design of Gistory. As my first job in tech, working with an institution as large as they are gave me a head start in the professional world and the world of web development. As my first job in tech, working with an institution as large as they are gave me a head start in the professional world and the world of web development. At Gistory, I was in charge of the development of the customized content management system built on top of Wordpress that allowed journalists to write and submit articles with a tagged location, our team of editors to review those articles before making it to site. In addition to the content management system, the UI and UX of Gistory was most interesting to work on. Imagine Google Maps but for news. I learned a lot about web development working on Gistory. The most notable concepts and accomplishments: - Worked with founder and team of designers to solidify product and launch MVP for seed round. - Built custom content management system (CMS) and editorial pipeline - Internalization (i18n) of content management system and web application. - Implemented headless CMS & API - Successfully achieved a sub 500ms load time through caching, incremental loading, and load balancing - Developed a new and innovate user experience for consuming the news - Developed release management system to ensure product quality Show less Gistory was an internet news startup that provides complete, concise and contextual story briefs on an interactive world map. Thankful for the opportunity to work with the Reynolds Journalism School during my time at Mizzou. I lead the project of transferring over 10,000 written articles and content from Drupal to Expression Engine content management system while also modernizing the older articles and pages to the latest HTML5 specification. Using linux, perl and ETL I wrote scripts to extract data from Drupal, transform them into the latest HTML5 standards, and load them into Expression Engine. Also in the transform process, I had to ensure all links and media assets on the old system continued to work on the new system. This project saved over $30,000 in employee time by taking the manual process into an automated one.
