I am heading currently a team of 5 young and passionate consultants from 5 different countries expanding every year further. Over the last 3 years we have worked with amazing leaders and produced reports that influenced political debate in Europe and elsewhere. And I am proud we managed to help companies in their daily operations.I started in 2017 the UK office, which is the newest branch of the group, but in 3 years we already reached a turnover close to 1M€ and we are managing projects with more than 250,000€ budget. The UK Office focuses on projects in the area of Circular Economy and Industrial efficiency as well as waste management optimization strategies, particularly for companies. From UK office the team is also focusing on development and implementation of take-back solutions in emerging markets for e-waste and other waste stream and expand capacity building activities of the group. Most of all, I am eager to keep the growing path of the company and spin-off new initiatives and activities. Sofies is a sustainability consulting and project management firm composed of a team of more than 40 consultants and a large network of partners and experts. We want to create a positive impact by delivering professional services based on industrial ecology and circular economy. We create trust relationships with our clients and partners based on listening and adaptability.

I have been key member of SCYCLE team growing over the last 15 years: 4 in the beginning when I joined and close to 20 when I left to dedicate all my energies to Sofies. At UNU I was working directly on projects or coordinating the work of the other team members (up to 4) in case of larger assignments and EU-funded projects. When looking back it's been amazing what we achieved and I am proud of:• Member of consortium supporting the recast of the WEEE Directive.• Member of the project team for the EU FP7 Countering Illegal Trade (CWIT) Project and EU DG ENV Study on review of WEEE Directive recovery and recycling targets.• Coordinator of the study developing the methodology to calculate WEEE Generated and reviewing collection targets.• Coordinator of the DG-HOME Dotcom Waste focusing on training and capacity building for enforcement agencies and prosecutors.• Leading UNU team involved in FORAM project on Raw Materials and PolyCE on Plastic recycling;• Heading for more than 7 years capacity building programs for policy makers and entrepreneurs in developing countries.

      • Aug 2011 - Dec 2016

In 2008 at the end of the start-up phase at Ecoped I decided to combine my passion for sustainability, my ability to create network of professionals to solve pressing problems and my curiosity in addressing new challenges founding Cyrcle Consulting. The aim was to combine an international network of recognized and proven excellences to provide customers with strategic advice and fully support them in the development of projects and high added value solutions in the areas of sustainability and industrial eco-efficiency.Those were years when the work at UNU and Cyrcle were running in parallel but also when the next step in my career was prepared: scaling up Cyrcle Consulting integrating it into Sofies group from January 2017.Looking back there are few projects I am really proud of during those years:• The analysis of financing models for the set-up for E-waste system in Ethiopia as part of a larger GEF-funded project coordinated by UNIDO.• Coordinating a large EU-funded project (PREMANUS) on behalf of Politecnico di Milano aiming at overcoming the asymmetric distribution of information retrieving product information and data usage to optimize remanufacturing operations for wind turbine gearboxes and automotive engines.• The first study, commissioned by UK DFID, on the end-of-life of Off-Grid Solar Appliances in Africa which paved the road to all the current work done by Sofies in the field.

      • Feb 2008 - Aug 2011

When, back in 2008, I accepted the challenge of becoming the Operations & Quality manager of Ecoped, I was eager to move from consultancy (advised the EU Commission on Directive recast few years earlier) to practice: struggling to find the best and most cost-effective way to comply, having the privilege to set-up from green-field operations. It was 4 years of real fun, struggles, success and sometimes also errors; but in those years I created so many bonds and strong relationships with all the stakeholders involved in the collection and recycling chain that I am thankful for that opportunity every time I think about that: some of the best memories of my early 30s and earlier professional career:• Member of technical working group at national level to draft common agreements between main stakeholders involved (Municipalities, retailers, clearinghouse) for operations • Responsible for selection & audit of suppliers (recyclers - national and international - and logistics companies to ensure nation-wide operations) and quality manager for ISO 9001:2008 Certification • Responsible for overall budgeting and pricing definition for Members for the 3 Compliance Schemes (Ecoped, Ridomus and Ecopower) which had operations ensured by Consorzio Ecoped.• Responsible for development and roll-out of voluntary standard (Ecoguard) with third-party audit covering the entire supply chain, from collection to End-Processing.• Responsible for development of new businesses for customers and members of Compliance Schemes as well as alternative business models for end-of-life management of e-waste - Development of filler for lead-acid batteries leakages (Terrabasica).• Responsible for set-up and roll-out of take back scheme for portable batteries and lead batteries nation-wide and other industrial waste streams (mainly related to automotive sector), including mobile payment systems, incentive and loyalty programs.
