Bio
Jessica Amegee
Federica and I worked together from 2018 to 2021 at LSTM on a variety of projects internal to the PIIVeC partnership. During our time together, her expertise in medical anthropology has been very valuable to the design and implementation of high-quality research projects in vector control in Cameroon, Malawi and Burkina Faso. She demonstrated great capacity in supporting a cohort of 12 Early Career Researchers within the PIIVeC programme and closely mentoring those working on the socio-cultural and environmental factors that affect malaria prevalence and transmission. Being methodical and creative, she advanced ECRs’ knowledge, skills and professionalism through bespoke training, aligned with their context and needs as well as partnership’s objectives. Having the capacity to reflect on the implementation of projects, she gave constructive criticism when necessary for the success of the partnership. Beyond PIIVeC partnership, she displayed sharp analytic skills in assessing practices and perceptions of LSTM social and environmental responsibility in reducing carbon emission, which translated into recommendations for the Senior Management Group to improve institutional frameworks and practises. Federica possesses this wide range of skills and capabilities which are essential in any team or project.

Federica is an outstanding researcher, with a strong sense of ethics. She has a unique lens towards research and she will make you rethink what you thought to be an absolute truth. She fully engages with her work. She has led the research fellows throughout their social and anthropological training. She has been truly interdisciplinary and adapted to the partner institutions to provide the best support possible. At the professional level, working with her is mind-opening. At the personal level, it is having the assurance of a colleague who will notice your energy and can gear it towards the best possible outcome for all parties involved
