SL Start and Associates ( Located at Mount lake Terrace, WA) - As a Direct Support Professional I work with children with developmental disabilities by engaging with them in an activity, helping them with eating and so forth. Although I help them on their journey to be the best they can become, the things I teach them depends entirely on each individual’s personal goal. This experience has taught me how to be patient, and it helped me understand that people learn differently and different people require different methods in order to teach them successfully. Associate Student Government (Shoreline Community College)- Club Affairs Officer As a Club Affairs Officer, I helped various students who wanted to bring their unique ideas to fruition on campus. I helped them with how to fill the applications, correctly request for information regarding their ideas and request an adequate budget. Although I was the club affairs officer, I was also assigned to various committees on campus. I worked with the communication officer who dealt with newsletters and Survivor’s Guides for the campus, and I also worked with the policy and procedure officer who dealt with students’ input on campus laws and well being on campus. This experience taught me to be more open minded and more considerate to various students and their ideas and how to collaboratively work with different students effectively. Show less
