Classroom Teacher for First Grade and English Teacher for Second Grade Along with the regular duties of a teacher, I taught first grade English, Math, and Art. I also taught second grade English. English subjects included: phonics, vocabulary, reading, spelling, and comprehension. I also organized the Reading Club for first grade students. My post abroad as a first grade classroom teacher and a second grade English teacher has helped to ground my competence and aptitude as an educator through first hand experiences. At the International School of Choueifat, my lessons were conducted using the SABIS Point System which encourages active learning through an interactive approach. Teachers apply the 3-step sequence of teach, practice, and check. The teacher explains the point to the class, provides an example in which the point is used, and then assigns an activity to check for student understanding. Show less
