  Gramicidin S (GS) is a bacterium, which have the potential to eliminate many kinds of bacteria. Therefore it is ideal to use it as an antibiotic. Bacteria can’t build resistance against GS. But the problem is that GS is also toxic for the humane cells. To eliminate the toxicity we have synthesized β2-amino acids which are not produced in the human body. Those β2-amino acids were integrated to the GS and the structure of GS was modified. During this internship I have experienced different analytical techniques like HPLC, NMR, LC-MS, LH-20 size exclusion chromatography and UV meter. Show less
