    • Framing and Conservation Manager, Researcher and Artist Manager
      • 2002 - 2005

Promoted through various roles from Assistant Gallery Manager and Manager of a subsidiary business specialising in the hire of artworks (for corporate and residential clients) to eventually manage the gallery’s framing and conservation services.Key achievements:Establishing two research databases (self-initiated). One to provide staff with a quick way to locate research material (from an extensive in-house library) and the other to track sales achieved at auction for major New Zealand artists. These provided selling staff with ‘provenance’ information to support retail prices, illustrate historic and current market trends, and offered management an additional tool to utilise when purchasing significant artworks at auction or direct from clients.Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships saw this service grow from a predominantly inward-facing service (readying company-owned stock for sale) to an outward-facing client service that created a strong source of revenue for the gallery.Responsibilities included the purchase of artworks (at auction), research and preparation of written material for publication in the ‘annual catalogue’ (the highlight of the gallery’s exhibition calendar) showcasing “premium” artworks valued $15K- $250K+ and performing an Artist Manager role for two key artists that provided a high volume of work, exclusively to the gallery.
