As I returned to school, I needed a job that would work around my busy schedule as a student. Starbucks allows me to work fewer hours (25-30) and does not get in the way of my school schedule. My job responsibilities include creating a warm, welcoming experience to customers by greeting them upon entry and thanking them upon exit; maintaining a clean, presentable store; crafting drinks; taking inventory of products and supplies; and most importantly working as a team to ensure effective and efficient operation of the store without overwhelming any one partner. SI Leader for Managerial Accounting (BusAdm 202). Due to my performance in this class last semester, the Student Success Center hired me to tutor this class 4 times a week and prepare exam reviews prior to each exam. In this role, I coordinate with Professor Rachel Gazaryan in helping students who need additional support with the material/homework and preparing practice problems and presentations for those who just need to review. As a CRC at US Bank, I had both teller and banker duties. I performed deposits, withdrawals, payments, and cashed checks. Additionally, I was responsible for assisting customers with loan applications, credit card applications, transaction disputes, opening/closing accounts, reissuing debit cards, and issuing cashiers checks among other things. Also part of my job was educating customers about banking, the process and ramifications of assuming debt, the differences between credit and debit, how credit scores work, how interest is assessed, the benefits of different accounts (checking, savings, certificate of deposit, trust, payable upon death). What I enjoyed most about this job was the opportunity to meet people of all different backgrounds, share my knowledge with them, and help them make choices that would be most suitable for their financial goals. I got to know customers, their children and their parents. I got to work with people even through major life events such as graduations, opening a business, marriage, and the births of their grandchildren. Unfortunately, I had to step away once I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in accounting. Show less
