      This function includes research, supervision of academic projects for master students and collaboration on consulting projects. 1. PhD Research (work-in-progress): Sustainability issues in seaports under the supervision of Professor dr. Michael Dooms. 2. Academic projects: Supervision of international mobility programs for master students (includes: selection of candidates, guidance, organisation of trip, on-site support and follow-up, grade assignments). - Two trade missions in emerging countries, where 40 master students execute an assignment for a participating Belgian company for 3 weeks (2020: Morocco and Vietnam, 2021: Poland and Romania, 2022: Greece, Hungary and Russia). - A collaboration with RANEPA (university of Moscow, Russia) where Belgian and Russian students work together on a consulting project for multinational companies. - An internship in Mombasa, Kenya with Close the Gap for the implementation of their social impact assessment project. 3. Consulting Projects: October 2021 - July 2022: Vlaanderen Circulair: An explorative research on circular economy monitoring for ports. October 2019 - March 2021: Port of Brussels and Logisticity.Brussels: Investigation of the socio-economic weight of companies located in the Brussels Port Cluster, including sustainability issues (adherence to SDGs), for the Port of Brussels and Logisticity.Brussels. Survey administration and analysis (> 80 respondents). Oct. 2019 - May. 2020: NBN (Bureau for Standardisation): Investigation of the socio-economic impact of norms and standards in the Belgian economy. Research contains an econometric model, survey (> 600 respondents) and case studies of companies from different sectors (12 cases: diamond, communication, infrastructure, construction, medical, ...) using norms and standards. This project is valorised by 2 scientific articles and a book. Show less
