Powertrain System Lead
-
Mar 2017 - Jan 2020
• Collaborated with small team to design and manufacture a 3D printed intake manifold, which improved on the predictability, weight, and performance of all previous Temple formula racecar intake designs; powertrain system improved by 16.7% additional horsepower • Designed multiple mock intakes for simulation using SolidWorks, and manufactured mock intake inserts using lathe; mock intake was used to determine proper intake design for the 2018 car • Optimized 20 mm intake restrictor, required by FSAE regulations, by studying ideal Venturi angle designs using SolidWorks Flow Simulation • Tuned runner length, plenum volume, and restrictor angles using Ricardo WAVE engine simulations • Designed muffer to regulate noise below SAE requirements, while maintaining maximum airflow to minimize power loss • Validated powertrain designs with dynamometer data; designs modified as needed • Manufactured exhaust, muffer, composites, and cooling system components Show less

Model Y Vehicle Quality Engineering Intern
-
Sep 2019 - Dec 2019
• Collaborated cross-functionally to exceed quality expectations for Model Y, while remaining on schedule during pre-production • Oversaw all of Model Y water leak tests and created a matrix to easily document results; data collected allowed for quality team to escalate areas of top concern to ensure issues are resolved prior to next stages of pre-production. Overall pass rate increased substantially • Created nonconformities for vehicle issues and escalated them as needed; issues were monitored to make sure action plans are on track for their respective deadlines • Monitored new design changes to smooth transition from old designs to new parts without sacrifcing quality; oversaw new part trials and tests prior to implementing new parts into vehicle • Supported on a multi-million dollar roof glass investigation for Model 3 by root-causing common cracks; designed new glass rollers with softer material using CATIA, reducing glass damage caused by handling and transporting the material Show less
