I am currently a CERT student mentor and my responsibility is to facilitate first year students and help them adjust into university life. I will be able to achieve this by giving them one to one support or group support. Another way is by organising events each term which first year students can entertain to network or acquire vital soft skills to support them in their university journey. I have been able to enhance my communication, interpersonal, independence and leadership skills by taking on this role.

    • Call Center Assistant
      • Apr 2022 - Sep 2022

As part of this job, as a team, we had to phone over 10,000 undergraduate students who were starting their first year, to welcome them to the university by seeing if they have any questions and to pass on key messages about events, tasks that need to be completed before starting university such as enrollment etc. The training consisted of familiarise myself with the system to log the calls in and to understand how to follow the script. There was no specific target to meet, which made this job relaxing. As a result of the teams hard work, we were able to finish two days earlier as we managed to call all the students.

I took part in a two week placement with NTU organised by Grads4Nottm. I was partnered and matched with Anteam working on a real life project and assigned to create a go to market plan ready for Anteam’s official launch in September of their app. Anteam is a delivery service aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by reducing the number of delivery vans on the road and enabling people to connect more with their local community and especially their neighbours. I worked alongside two other members of the team who also contributed towards the teams success. As a result of the teams success in composing a marketing plan, a poster and presentation, we were awarded the prize for the best poster, due to its simplicity and creativity at the showcase event.

I worked at Sainsburys and was responsible for working on Click and Collect orders for customers who use the “Click and Collect” online feature to make their orders which were delivered and sent out to the customers or they chose to collect them from Sainsburys. I had to complete large orders for customers ensuring it satisfied the customers needs, and giving customers suitable substitute products and customers received all the products they purchased. I also worked on the shop floor stacking the shelves when I was not doing the online orders to ensure customers could access the products on the shelves effectively with ease.

I was selected to take part in the Academy of Enterprise placement which was virtual due to the pandemic. The Academy of Enterprise was a week long placement where I had to create a prototype, where as a team we decided to design a hand sanitiser product as it would be essential for the NHS and the local community when travelling to and from work and would be able to purchase hand sanitiser, and this was during the Covid-19 pandemic. We were given a limited budget of £20 where we had to purchase all the necessary resources to create and operate a business with a group of members. As a result of this placement, I acquired many skills such as resilience, networking, communication skills etc. On the other hand, I also won an accelerator award at the end of the placement for the commitment towards the business prototype. The accelerator award is a 3 week placement, which I will do in the business industry in the year of 2023.
