Ally Gaeckle
Fady started his time at Trees on the app dev team where he used his coding skills to build a new feature into the website which pulled content from our app’s backend and displayed it in a filterable and searchable page. Fady’s work on this project allowed us to display our content to potential university partners, ultimately resulting in a new contract for the company. After Fady’s app dev internship ended, he went above and beyond to continue supporting the team, volunteering to stay another quarter to assist in the redesign of the app. It was during this time that we learned Fady is more than a strong coder; he is a talented designer and an energetic team leader. Fady quickly grew into a team leader under our art director, taking feedback, asking questions, onboarding new interns, and doing excellent design work in Sketch, from reimagining user experiences completely (e.g. adding a swipe-to-discover flow) down to creating icons, modifying the toolkit, and precision work around spacing and ADA compliance. With each task we threw his way, Fady tackled it with enthusiasm and produced deliverables above and beyond our expectations. He also showed up to every meeting with a great attitude and an eagerness to learn, which shined through his requests for feedback and constant drive to improve his work. Fady is a remarkable designer, coder, and leader and we hope to keep working with him after his graduation from Cal Poly.
