My research was conducted in the Departments of Environment and Geography and the Department of Environment and Planning. I explored new forms of environmental citizenship in a representative case of Latin America. I used an innovative arrange of methods to approach diverse stakeholders around a public policy project. My project was awarded as the best commencing research project in the Department’s 2010 annual seminar. In its final approval my research was rated as excellent by the external reviewers. I worked as instructor in the following units: a) Environment and Sustainability, in which I was responsible for leading discussion sessions on general environmental topics and tutoring and b) Environmental Measurement and Analysis, in which I coordinated a group of around 50 post-graduates to conduct a survey of environmental social attitudes in the Jervis Bay region. In both units I received excellent ratings on student evaluations. In 2011 I joined and acted as manager of the Planning Research Students Forum, which gathered research students from a group of Sydney's universities, including Macquarie U, UNSW, USyd, UTS and UWS. I was part of the Research Institute of Public Policy and Government (http://iippg.cucea.udg.mx/) and the Department of Public Policy. My responsibilities included lecturing, researching and contributing to the academic management. My latest research project was about Public Water Management in the City of Guadalajara, Mexico. The research was published in a book that I coordinated together with a research colleague; more than 20 scholars contributed to this publication. As a lecturer, I taught both at graduate and postgraduate levels, in the field of public policy, public sector and government. I was invited as a guest professor to most of the master programs on public policy in the universities of my region. In total, I lectured nearly 40 groups and had around 800 students. I directed 6 master theses. An important achievement in this period was the creation of the Bachelor in Public Policy. I led a team of researchers and lecturers to design the program’s curriculum. We drafted the proposal that was discussed and approved by the University’s senate. This program started almost a decade ago and has graduated more than 200 students. Show less

I head a think-tank unit that delivered advice on public policy and public affairs to the state’s public, private and social sectors. I led a team of advisers and together we managed high profile projects, mostly related to controversial or politically sensitive issues. My most notable achievement was leading a team of more than 30 environmental specialists to assess a large dam that had been proposed to supply water to Guadalajara City. The study was requested by the State Government of Jalisco in order to satisfy the public demand for an independent environmental impact assessment. My responsibilities included: 1) collaborating with the diverse stakeholders, such as the government, the dam proponents and environmental social groups; 2) collecting and systematising data and relevant information, coordinating the diverse disciplinary teams; and 3) elaborating and communicating the study’s final report. Our study contributed to the public discussion of the project and our recommendations were adopted. We also contributed to the establishment of a state network of environmental specialists. Show less
