Bio
Douglas Gastich
Ezra is one of the best parallel parker's I know (possibly even better than me). Even with a rock stuck in his brake caliper, he gets it done. Same goes for his technical and management skills. He makes the hard things easy. His relaxed demeanor, matched up with his talent and sense of humor, becomes a force for productivity.
Aaron Talcott
I've worked with Ezra on and off for nearly two decades, and he was as invaluable a colleague and mentor in 1999 as he is today. I know him to be an adept problem solver with a surprising breadth of knowledge across the entire web development ecosystem, always eager to explore its technologies as they arise and adapt to its ever-shifting landscape. His development skills are complemented by his clear and amiable communication, his excellent organizational sense, and his consequent ability to drive complex projects forward efficiently with a view to long-term stability and maintainability. He's always a pleasure to work with and I would unfailingly recommend him as part of any team.

Senior Web Engineer - Contractor & Consultant

Jul 2002 - May 2014
I’ve been fortunate to work with a diverse group of amazing creative agencies in Portland over the years: Nemo, North, Sandstrom, Instrument, Sockeye, Weinstein PR, Moto Interactive, Germinate Apps. Building sites for large corporations (Intel, Nike, Microsoft, HP) to local heroes (New Seasons Market, Smith Tea, Pacific Foods, Lensbaby), for musicians, artists, and everybody in between. These projects have ranged from ecommerce, to custom CMS's, to robust internal applications. Stacks vary, but lean towards PHP, MySQL with a heavy dose of CSS, JS, and of course HTML. Show less

Partnered with Dave Allen of Gang of Four and a group of music-loving creatives to help local musicians with a full-service agency approach. Producing, distributing, and promoting music, and building a few websites along the way. It was mostly about the free shows and the rad office, but we learned a lot about the music and creative business and met some extremely talented artists. The best times! Much of the team went on to work for Beats, which then got acquired by Apple Music. The fine folks at Metropolitan Group focus on projects that revolve around social change, taking on clients and organizations with their hearts in the right place. I spent my time there building sites for a variety of organizations, and meeting a group of talented developers who are still some of my closest friends. A great introduction to the Portland creative industry. * Built a custom CMS for large-scale high-visibility public organization * Documented & championed best practices for future web initiatives * Defined strategic SEO goals Show less

Partnered with Dave Mustaine of Megadeth to form this web development shop with a heavy focus on working with other artists from Capitol Records. A great introduction to running a small business from a virtual office, and a fun way to dip my toes in the engineering world. From wireframing with Alice Cooper, to negotiating with Sevendust, to sharing a Snapple with Sammy Hagar, it was an awesome ride and I learned a ton.
