I have just been granted an Individual Artist Commission from Arts Mid-Hudson to create a new solo theatre performance exploring themes of grief and loss through Lecoq based clown, physical theatre, and puppetry. Using the framework of the hero’s journey as described by Joseph Campbell, my main character will escape the reality of grief and loss in her life by becoming a clown and leaving the real world behind. She will go on a quest that will eventually prepare her to come back and face her real journey–that of processing her grief. This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
