Keith is a dyed-in-the-wool news guy who has the skills to flourish as your go-to reporter. He brings with his experience in both the print and digital world an edge that is oh-so-important in the field day after day after day. He'll work hard for you; he'll work smart for you. You'll look back one day and say "Keith was a really good hire."

Larry Higgs

Keith has two claims to fame at the Asbury Park Press. The first was as the guy who worked with Bill Bowman to debunk the federal government's claim that closing Fort Monmouth would save money. Keith relentlessly dug through federal documents and reports to back this claim up. His work also showed that Aberdeen Md., where the base's functions were being transferred to, was unprepared and lacked infrastructure for the new workers relocating there. Currently, the federal government estimates the fort's closure will cost $1.9 billion. They should have listened to Keith. Second - Keith was a top notch reporter with a dead on "BS" meter when officials tried to spin him and an imaginative reporter, who could find a new, interesting take on a mundane assignment. His day in the life of a downtown Red Bank parking meter stands out as one of those. Any news organization would be improved by having Keith on staff.

I manage the workflow and personnel of the team that produces all public-facing content for the Laboratory Investigations Department, a heavily scientific division of PETA focused on ending animal experimentation. We translate often dense scientific information and transform it into salient and lively copy easily understood by a general audience, comprised of 9 million supporters worldwide. Our news releases, blog posts, email alerts and other materials move people to act.

Writing for Patch.com’s 76 sites throughout New Jersey, I cover statewide politics with an emphasis on the race for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by the late Sen. Frank Lautenberg. I provide daily copy to all NJ sites on the ins and outs of the race, which involves a field of six candidates, and write longer-range enterprise stories capturing the cadence and tenor of the campaign and its potential effect on the state’s residents.

At Patch, I have been editor of several hyper-local news websites, producing high-quality, local, journalism with both long-range and daily content while under the immediate deadlines necessitated by the medium. I made daily use of Search Engine Optimization techniques and developed a deep understanding of social media through extensive use. Video production was essential to my daily experience developing and growing an audience of at least 90,000 residents on the Jersey Shore.
