Design & development of the harmon.ie desktop product that integrates SharePoint with Outlook/Lotus Notes. Designed & implemented the solution to support common source code for Lotus Notes plug-in & Outlook plug-in. The codebase is mostly Java based on top of Eclipse RCP framework. Using IKVM we rehosted the Java code on top of .Net & integrated it with Outlook. The solution required tight integration between IKVM & OSGI base module system as well as performance tailoring of IKVM's JNI implementation with Eclipse RCP's native WIN32 layer. Designed & participated in extending harmon.ie to support IBM Connections server. The product is developed for IBM and is branded as an IBM product. It is supplied by IBM to IBM Connections customer as part of the IBM Connections product package. Show less

Worked as team leader & chief software architect in Grasshopper. The project provides a cross platform development environment & runtime to build & run C# server based applications on top of Java EE.• Designed & implemented the compiler from .NET (1.) MSIL bytecode to Java bytecode. Implemented non-existent features in Java bytecode such as structs (also known as tuples), pass by ref, unsigned integer support, etc. • Designed & guided the implementation of compiling .Net 2.0 MSIL features such as generics to Java bytecode.• Led the team responsible for implementing the .Net runtime in conjunction with the Mono project (see http://www.mono-project.com/Main_Page) & the integration with Java EE platform. The runtime featured ADO.Net, .Net XML & ASP.Net.• Made Grasshopper (Mono based) runtime into enterprise grade server runtime. Identified, analyzed & resolved performance issues, scalability bottleneck & incorrect API implementation. Guided a large scale project of improving runtime unit testing to improve API quality. Worked as engineer, team leader & architect as part of the Mainsoft for UNIX & Linux product (a.k.a. MainWin).During this period I have led the port of the code base of Microsoft Windows API to UNIX & Linux. The code base consists of millions of C/C++ lines of code (& sometimes assembly code). Porting the code base required developing a strict& careful methodology to identify, diagnose & handle portability issues. Starting with compiler differences, CPU dependent code & up to use of unsupported features in the target platform.Highlights:• 1997-1998 - Worked with Microsoft to port Internet Explorer 4.0 & 5.0 to Solaris & HP-UX. I took a principal part in the port of Windows NT 4.0 code base to UNIX, support for COM inter-thread & inter-process communication. Led the Mainsoft team on site & the interaction with the Microsoft development team.• 2000-2002 - Designed & guided the transformation of MainWin (Mainsoft for UNIX) product from supporting desktop applications to supporting enterprise server applications. The project included support for multi user environments, server enterprise quality (robustness, performance, scalability) & enterprise features of Windows API's like DCOM security. Show less
