I have participated in the Bat Conservation Trust Waterway Survey at my site on the River Esk near Penicuik. I am gaining new skills how to work with bat detector and how to identify the most common bat’s species in Scotland by echolocation call. I have been actively involved in the BTO Wetland Bird Survey project. My job involved identifying and counting waterbirds at my assigned site (Glencorse and Loganlea Reservoirs in the Pentland Hills) and entering data into an online registering system. Also, I completed online training organised by BTO to improve my bird identification skills (especially aural). I have been actively involved in the BTO Wetland Bird Survey project. I was engaged in The LIFE Aquatic Warbler conservation program and Common Breading Bird Survey (MPPL) for three years. The MPPL is part of the State Environmental Monitoring programme, which is coordinated by the Chief Inspectorate of Environmental Protection in Poland. Birds were surveyed in randomly selected 1 km2 sample plots. Each plot was surveyed twice in the breeding season, using standard and robust methods. I recorded all the individuals that I saw or heard and I also recorded sightings of mammals and described the habitat. Show less

My position required working with local communities, creating, and conducting surveys, and collecting data on the White Stork. This data included: GPS nest position, occupation, and if breeding number of young storks. I input the data I collected into a special online program which coordinated the monitoring of the White Stork population in Poland. During that period, I have learned how National Parks operate to preserve biodiversity within and around the protected area. As a part of the Education and Tourism team, I helped with organising and running environmental education events for adults and children to promote the Park’s work and to share my passion for the environment. I also took part in the European Pond Turtle conservation program with the Nature and Cultural Resources Conservation team.
