Involves providing talks and presentations about higher education, coaching A Level students on subject specific tasks to aid them in being accepted into university and conducting guided campus tours to prospective students. Due to the impact of Covid-19, my normal responsibilities were no longer feasible, so instead, I adjusted to the new climate and helped the University of Bath by holding virtual open days, assisting pupils make choices about higher education. During this role, I learnt more about the Co-op as a family of retail businesses by researching relevant topics to help the Co-op grow as an inclusive business and sitting in on meetings regarding adapting to ever-changing circumstances. While researching into managerial characteristics, the recruitment process for those with disabilities and apprenticeships from around the world, as well as talking to colleagues from different departments, I gained valuable insight into the runnings of a successful business, especially during turbulent times. What I value the most from this experience is the understanding of Co-op's core values and how these values can positively impact productivity, performance and the wider community. Show less

This role gave me both great responsibility and reward as I was able to see two pupils grow and learn, achieving outcomes that were previously thought to be close to impossible, securing a place in a specific secondary school and allowing a student to pass the academic year. This goal-orientated role also made me more thoughtful and creative as I had to design weekly lesson plans to keep my pupils concentrated and on track.
