My research project "A Built Environment for Mental Wellness" explores how design methodologies for mental health-related facilities could be applied to other building types to benefit the general public. My research included literature review and case study analysis of psychiatric hospitals, special needs schools and community-based programs such as group homes and correctional facilities. I assembled a year’s worth of work into a cohesive gallery show, which included 2D/3D work, as well as animations and installation pieces. The objective of this show was not only to promote the Solar Decathlon and Team Mass, but also to educate the MassArt community and general public about sustainable design.
