This project served as my Honors Psychology Senior Thesis and focused on how religious/spiritual beliefs and cultural traditions of Puerto Rican parents in the Rochester area might influence parents’ causal reasoning about common illnesses (e.g., cold and COVID-19) and the messages they choose to share with their children. - Connected with 40 community organizations and businesses during the recruitment process of the Honors Thesis, including radio stations, dance groups and non-profit organizations. - Conducted in-home and community interviews in both Spanish and English for the Honors Thesis. - Took part in main/assistant experimenter roles on a project focused on understanding how children learn about life cycles through play via card games and exploration of the Strong National Museum of Play’s butterfly garden. - Transcribed, checked, and coded children’s books about COVID-19. - Transcribed video recordings in both Spanish and English for a UC-Riverside project that investigated how cultural context on Explanatory Systems of Biological Illnesses (ESBI) in Hispanic communities.
