Evelyn's Behavioral Economics course through UCSD was an excellent hands-on introduction to the field. I was able to apply some of the concepts I learned in her class to my career in market research as well as my personal life. I was impressed by Evelyn's comprehensive understanding of the field and her knowledge of new research and findings. She always presented information in a fun and digestible manner. I highly recommend taking a course from her!

I attended a workshop on Behavioral Science at the University of California at San Diego, led by Evelyn, and it was nothing short of outstanding. I've attended a few professional workshops and this was unlike anything else I've ever attended. Cutting-edge, engaging, and highly relevant to real-world business environments, I walked away with experiments I could immediately test with my team. On a personal note, Evelyn's presentation style is engaging and approachable. I absolutely would work with her again, and would highly recommend her consulting services to others.

Shapa is a smart scale without numbers, created to solve an age-old problem: how to successfully manage and lose weight without demotivation. Shapa takes the negative experience of stepping on a traditional scale and transforms it into a positive experience that motivates people to make healthy lifestyle changes. Shapa was co-founded by social scientist and Duke University professor Dan Ariely as an innovative approach to chronic disease management and prevention -- applying principles of social science to its products for effective health management. The new smart scale, Shapa’s first product, takes what we know about behavioral science and incorporates it into its design, feedback mechanism, and recommendations to help people more successfully manage their weight and health. Course Goals: Students will learn the key principles of behavioral economics and how to apply them in a business context. Upon completing the course, students will view themselves as choice architects; they will know how to shape customers' decisions by shaping the environment where the decisions are made. Show less
