During my PhD project titled “Neuroimmune interactions in the gastro-intestinal tract” I studied reciprocal interactions between enteric (cholinergic) neurons and resident intestinal CX3CR1+ macrophages in vitro and in vivo. I presented this work at several international conferences with oral and poster presentations. My first master thesis “Influenza A virus matrix protein 2 specific immune protection” focussed on cell biology and basic microscopy/imaging. During this experience the seed for my eager interest in biomedical sciences was planted.
