Initiative Narrative Journalism Netherlands (Stichting Verhalende Journalistiek) has as main goal to stimulate the use of narrative journalism, also known as literary non-fiction in Dutch media. This includes journalistic productions for daily, weekly and monthly print media, as well as books, radio, internet and television. Since 2011 the Initiative Narrative Journalism Netherlands (Stichting Verhalende Journalistiek) organizes an English-language conference about narrative journalism in the Netherlands. The roughly 300 participants get to enjoy the inspiring stories of journalists from the Netherlands and abroad. I led the organization and its various activities including the annual ‘True Stories’ conference on narrative journalism with international speakers. In 2021 I developed the Meestervertellers Academy and in 2022 sat up a pilot project in collaboration with Evens Foundation and Are We Europe called Journalistic Voices Diversified for journalists in exile. My responsibilities included fund raising, strategic development, coordinating and guiding the board, a small team and numerous volunteers. Show less

Account Manager
-
2008 - Oct 2012
The Red Dot Agency was a creative and strategic communications agency with offices in London and Amsterdam. As account manager at The Red Dot Agency I worked mainly on the Canon Europe account. We developed the strategy for the Canon Professional Department to move from B2B to B2C. We did this by creating and developing a pan-European platform called Canon Professional Network and the Canon Ambassadors Programme both aimed to create a revenue generating community and market Canon pro products to the professional photographers/videographers and ‘prosumers’. We furthermore developed a pan-European internal communications platform called Insight with the aim to streamline communications/marketing for new products and services and to ensure the exchange of best-practices amongst the different national sales offices in Europe. I was the first point of contact for our clients and partners at Canon Europe and managed about 50+ different contacts at different departments within the central European office in London as well as the 18 (or so) national sales offices. I managed and overlooked the team working on the account and it was my responsibility to evaluate, report progress and measure success. Show less
