Regional expert on Tax Harmonisation in East African Community
-
Apr 2008 - Present
as regional expert on Fiscal policy harmonisation officer, I facilitated the Tax harmonisation framework by creating Technical working groups and I facilitated the involvement of the Private Sector in the Harmonisation discussions. I organised a successful private-Public dialogue on Tax issues and other discussion on tax matters in EAC. For the success of tax harmonisation, a code of conduct against harmful tax competition was needed; I facilitated the study and supervised consultants on this issue. I also contributed to the establishment of Burundi Tax Authority. Partner States are sensitized on the importance of tax harmonisation for a successful Common Market and Monetary Union and some Tax instruments were developed with my support. Show less
