Software Engineering Intern
-
May 2018 - Aug 2018
United States In my summer project I helped instrument the first version reporting product. My role focused on developing backend APIs to interface with internal systems and build the end to end data pipeline. I brought data from the front end client to our internal database, learning and developing in the full stack of the application. Where I saw opportunity I acted and, for example, implemented Single Sign On security (SSO) for logins which removed the need to buy other products to accomplish it.

Researcher: Robotic Arm Object Recognition
-
Sep 2016 - Apr 2017
Working within the DROP Lab, I assembled and scripted the robotic arm's underwater camera. Using OpenCV I tested image training to detect the scoop handle and build a labelled data set of handle images in real time. This data set was to be later used in a Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) to train more robust handle detection and manipulation by transforming the images to appear underwater.

Researcher: Autonomous Vehicle Data Processing
-
Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
In my summer research position I worked within the DROP Lab on an Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV). My major contributions included synchronizing image capture for the stereo camera and matching them to GPS, depth, and related data from recorded log files. This matching of images and data allowed easier 3D map reconstruction in post processing. Additionally I worked on the ASV dashboard UI making improvements to alerts and catching edge cases.
