Originally from New Orleans, at an early age, Evan was intrigued by motion pictures. Though a son of an engineer, he grew up with the arts. It was his love of movies and his father's technical influence that inevitably led Evan to cinematography. Evan received a degree in Film Theory from the University of Wisconsin-Madison studying under David Bordwell. Evan first began his discovery of cinematography working as a motion picture film processor in Madison. After a short stint in development, Evan found the lighting world. Immersing himself in this art form, he worked as a Gaffer on more than thirty films and over a hundred music videos and commercials before taking up the helm as a DP himself.
