      - Worked with Professor Walter Smith in his project pertaining to the conductivity of DNA. My project was to research the best way to selectively attach Thiol modified oligonucleotides to gold surfaces. Our research group included Professor Smith and four other physics students enrolled at Haverford College. We worked eight hours a day, five days a week, for ten weeks. - Learned many DNA modification techniques including, deposition, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), purification, lyophilizing, Nano dropping, gel electrophoresis, and ligation. Additionally, I used two main imaging techniques, an atomic force microscope (AFM) and a confocal microscope. - Achieved the first successful deposition of a DNA sample that could be tested for conductivity on a gold electrode. - Wrote a thorough paper that included procedures, findings, and suggested future directions.
