In September 2014 I joined the Bath & NES Liberal Democrats and worked with over 40 dedicated local candidates along with our Prospective Parliamentary candidate Steve Bradley. It was a campaign fought hard by all in our team. Despite our contracted hours being 9-5 we would work through the night to get the job done. Being a part of a campaign really draws out the passion and dedication in a team to do what it takes to hold the seat on election night. I studied every policy of each of the political parties standing in the local area and used it to our advantage on the doorsteps whilst campaigning. Knowing the flaws in other candidates plans and the strengths of our own encouraged many voters to lean our way on election night. Within my role as Campaign Co-ordinator my job title included VIBO (Volunteer Infrastructure Building Organiser) which meant that I had to engage our current volunteers and recruit new volunteers to aid in our election campaign. This meant communication through a wide range of resources and finding new ways to get members and volunteers involved with our office team. I was also in charge of the canvassing data - working out the best possible routes to take around the city to maximise our potential vote on polling day. During the campaign I also organised several MP/Minister/Lord visits to our constituency including our ‘Valentines Action Weekend with Steve Webb’ - The organisation of this event meant contacting and organising; members, volunteers, councillors, candidates and also Steve Webb & the Thornbury & Yate team. The weekend was a huge success, and this was proven in our huge increase in voter contact over those two days.

Training in both mechanical and electrical disciplines, I worked not only as a full time apprentice, but also as head of the apprentice committee* Throughout the year I had huge success within the company winning ‘Apprentice of the year in Engineering and Manufacturing’, also awarded ‘Gloucestershire’s overall Apprentice of the year’, and finally winning ‘Apprentice that has contributed the most to the centre’. I worked hard to win each of these awards throughout the year, competing against apprentices across the entire county. *Apprentice Committee: With my Apprenticeship I was able to take on the role of Committee Leader (which I had to campaign to win), which enabled me to single handedly structure, organise and plan events for over 90 apprentices and 20 members of staff to participate in. This involved knowledge of the individual needs of each participant, sound understanding of the event details, good communication skills and also a good understanding and handling of the financial side to event organisation. Events I had organised in 2013-2014 (ALL for charity organisations) PINK DAY – Raising money for breast cancer research, all apprentices and staff participating in activities that were fun and engaging. MOVEMBER – Raising money for prostate cancer research, all apprentices and staff encouraged to grow facial hair and donate throughout the month, with a competition at the end for the best grown! (Females encouraged to wear fake moustaches to get involved too!). FOOD BANK – To help gather food from all apprentices and staff and donate a large collection of food to the food bank in order to help support those families that are less fortunate during the Christmas period. SPORTS RELIEF – Raising money for people in need both in the UK and Abroad. Huge 5-a-side football tour- nament structured so that the company (Staff and apprentices) could get together after work and compete in a charity football match.
