Working closely with a team of senior level engineers, Eugene was responsible for various structural design tasks which included, but were not limited to, retaining walls, bentcaps, columns, spread footings, and piles. For 8 months total, Eugene served as field inspector for the Sunnyvale-Mathilda Bridge Rehabilitation Project, which involved the lane widening of a two-way bridge overpass as well as construction of a new loop ramp and pedestrian ramps. Responsibilities included, but were not limited to, inspection and calculations involving the following structural items: piledriving, reinforcing steel and concrete relating to retaining walls, soffit and deck, footings, columns, abutments, bentcaps and hinges, barriers, and post-tension elements. Additional civil inspection included storm drain facilities, paving, signal and electrical items, and traffic control. Daily inspection diaries were maintained, which included (T&M) tracking time and material work elements, photodocumentation of all work activities, providing cost estimates, and producing calculations for bid items.As an office engineer, Eugene's duties included, but were not limited to, reviewing and processing of RFI's and submittals, producing quantity calculations, producing pay estimates, checking daily extrawork reports, and documenting construction activity on a daily basis.
