Louise Fifer

Since Etta joined the upReach programme she has shown great dedication to developing her employability skills and career knowledge. Her creativity and passion for social impact is evident. Whilst on the upReach programme Etta has achieved Gold on the Charity and Social Impact Career Springboard- attending multiple events, networking, completing a career course, online tests and much more. I am very excited to see what Etta goes on to achieve in the future, she would be an incredible asset to any organisation.

Before COVID, I was selected to partake in my Sixth Form's 'Working with Woodrush' tutoring scheme, where I one-to-one tutored a Year 10 GCSE class. It was a very rewarding and valuable experience. Tutoring taught me to be adaptable and innovative when exploring the best teaching styles for each student. I often had to teach texts I myself had not studied at GCSE, which again enhanced my raw skills in order to assist the students. I was invited to be a member of the 'Cloud 9' society, which was an exclusive society of students whose estimated grades were all 9s (A**s) at GCSE. The group was made less than 5% of my cohort. Weekly meetings were hosted, which coached us to reach our potential, and often we had external visitors and speakers. It was a very motivating experience, and I enjoyed networking and collaborating with my peers.
