Ethan Zimmer joined me at the Sheraton Vistana Villages, a 1153-villa vacation resort on International Drive in Orlando, in 2015. He was selected for the role not only because of his resort operations knowledge and skills but also for his experience across multiple brands, especially Sheraton and Westin Resorts. Ethan settled quickly into his role, motivated and expanded the recreation team, and added many new activities to the program based on guest feedback and the variety of demographics amongst our vacation owners and guests. Thru his involvement with IAPAA and ARDA Ethan stayed informed about industry trends and brought many new offerings, such as VR and Laser Maze® to the resort. He also staged incredible New Year’s and 4th of July pool parties. I realized quickly that Ethan has much more to offer, his experience on cruise lines and in the recreation field in general is only part of his skill set. His financial acumen and general business sense made him the perfect leader for our retail operation. He oversaw 2 poolside shops, a boutique with resort apparel and sundries, as well as a Market Place with Deli and Starbucks® operation as well as a variety of grocery products. Ethan expanded the retail offering by partnering with Publix® and added F&B beverage offerings to the outlet, growing revenue and profits in the process. The later made him the great choice when I had to find an interim leader for our F&B department. Again, Ethan took on this challenge well, acquired Serve Safe certification, trained, and lead a large team over 2 bars and a full-serve restaurant (with food delivery service) and expanded menu offerings, promotion, and events. What I value most in Ethan is his curiosity and drive, always looking for new revenue sources, new entertainment ideas, new activities, and events to keep guests, vacation owners, and team members engaged. He is a driven, creative, and personable leader and team player.

I have known Ethan Zinner as an Activities Supervisor for the Starwood family of resorts for over 1 year and as a friend for several more before that. I have personally had the great fortune of observing Ethan conducting himself and his staff with 5 star leadership and responsibility. His understanding of program initiatives and execution are as obvious as the quality of the projects and programming he has produced. Ethan is an intelligent and motivated individual.
