Bio
James D.
I taught Ethan for his A-Level Business and Psychology. Three phrases I would use to describe him are: relentlessly creative, hilariously challenging, and surprisingly resilient. Across both subjects he would be first to volunteer ideas, ask questions - and often to question subject matter. At first this was difficult to deal with as a teacher because points would seem to burst out of him like fireworks. However, as he grew in maturity and he learned to listen and consider. For both courses he also learned to focus his energy effectively so that it developed his understanding. He somehow combined this with a (sometimes unintentional) sense of humour that kept me wondering how he had made links between topics. A particularly memorable example was when I was teaching business change models. I asked the class to work in pairs. Ethan showed creativity, collaboration, and an understanding of business reality when he created a model of business change with a fellow student that I think has *genuine applicability* for small to medium sized enterprises. (As much as I am tempted, I am not going to steal it.) Outside the classroom setting, Ethan directly used his understanding when he was part of a group of sixth formers that created and led a drama and music event. It was attended by over 100 parents with over 20 different acts performing. In the run up to the event, I had taught a specific topic that he said would have helped him immensely. This willingness to take classroom topics and find real-world application for them is typical of how Ethan thinks. Overall, I recommend Ethan for any role that demands results. With clear feedback, he would fulfil any business challenge with characteristic initiative, energy, and creativity.

I have now stared Apprenticast - A Window into the mind of a young apprentice. In September 2022 I started my journey as a Digital Marketing Apprentice, throughout my time at school, I didn't have the understanding of what opportunities were available to me after I left. I have started this podcast to act as a diary of what i get up to as an apprentice, to interviews others within the industry, and answer any questions young people may have about becoming an apprentice.
