  I designed and fabricated a tool to control the pointing of 12 cm ion beam sources. I also assisted in the initial steps of a process upgrade that led to 30% reduction of coating times. Training included the operation and maintenance of ion beam sputtering chambers, the use of Zygo interferometers to measure flatness, the use of photothermal common-path interferometry to measure absorption, and the use of spectrophotometers. I also became familiar with the theory of optical thin film coatings and their related deposition processes. Show less
