I'm a teacher, web and app developer, technology enthusiast, and curriculum creator. Right now I'm working on setting up a front-end bootcamp that's accessible to people who would otherwise not be able to attend classes for financial or circumstantial reasons. My goal is to make technology accessible by finding the right exercises and practical projects for my students. I believe that everyone has the potential to succeed in tech, and I'm determined to help my students overcome systemic road blocks and self-doubt that might hold them back. My goals for 2023: I currently teach a 9-week web development course at a community center with free child care, and I'm hoping to expand this into a full-front end bootcamp with a full stack JavaScript component. Next, I want to help my students learn how to land a job in the tech industry. With help from my non-profit's technology industry board members, I hope to provide ample access to networking opportunities and practical guidance on how to land a job. I also host networking events so that my students can connect with potential employers and colleagues, or just hang out with me and get homework help. Finally, I'm eager to teach people about Artificial Intelligence tools, and their impact on our world. I think it's crucial that we all understand what AI is, how it works, what it can do, and how it will and does affect our legal, educational, and technological systems. Especially as we are increasingly going to be using AI tools on a daily basis for everything from google and bing search, to coding, to making restaurant reservations. I want to provide information and practical training. I want to do my part to ensure that AI tools remain democratic, and I want to encourage a world where AI is aligned with our best intentions. I am currently helping a chain of clinics in California update their mobile applications by using the cross-platform developing tool, React Native. Prior to this I developed native applications in Xcode and Android Studio for an EMS (Emergency Medical Responder) company. I am taking new clients! My current and past projects can be found on Google Play and the Apple App Store by searching for "Caduceus Medical Group," "PDQ," and "Apps4EMS." I worked as a full-stack developer for Optum, working with Java, PHP, JSON, Javascript, and more. It was a really fun and fast-paced job with lots of puzzles to solve! I enjoyed both the solo work of solving application failures or adding features, and the team projects for larger scale application changes. It was additionally really interesting to see how corporate environments work, as my previous experience was either in public education or in academia. I left after a 6-month contract to devote more time to establishing my freelance work as a mobile app developer. Show less

I worked with the awesome students at Humboldt high school, grades 6 through 12. I tutored every school subject from remedial math to calculus, from the very basics of English writing to advanced essay writing and literary analysis. I also helped students devise strategies to manage their workload, maintain positive relationships with their teachers and other school staff, and to plan for their future.
