Financial Administrator
-
Jun 2012 - Nov 2013
After a successful 6 months as an Apprentice, I was offered a permanent position at L&P Financial Advisers. My role began, supporting a small team of financial advisers & a para-planner with administration, company accounts organisation ( product commission & fees). I built up my pensions, investments and insurance knowledge and assisted with group pension scheme business. I made my interest/ passion for financial services known, and was quickly introduced to Cii for professional qualifications. I was also lucky enough to attend a workshop with MetLife 'Tolerance to investment loss' and a financial adviser event called 'Year of the adviser', which in turn built up my CPD hours.

I had a keen interest to start a career in Financial services, and so I got in touch with 15Billion - who are an organisation who advise & assist with career opportunities for young people leaving school. I firstly obtained an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Business Administration. One of the requirements of the qualification was to gain 'on the job' first hand experience in an office, and so I worked part time in a small office as a Junior Finance officer. My role was largely administration but did involve small cash balance sheet management, company related invoices management & charity correspondence for project funding.

For my school work experience project I gained 2 weeks work experience at SEB - Merchant Bank; to gain some basic accounting knowledge. My role at SEB was to assist with filing of accounts, correspondence and to refer incoming calls to the relevant departments. During my time there, I started to develop a passion for financial services and was keen to see what other roles were available in the industry.
