  Taking a whole systems, mixed-methods approach, my thesis aims to understand the impact of patient transfers within and between hospitals. I analysed large electronic health record datasets using inferential statistical methods and network analysis. I also conducted and analysed focus groups and interviews with hospital managers to understand the impact of transfers on patient outcomes.
