Apr 2018 - Present
As Director, I work with the RDA Committee to facilitate the connection between the Gold Coast’s businesses, local entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders and domestic and international trade partners to attract investment and create local jobs and growth. I get the right people and the right organisations around the table to identify needs, facilitate strategic planning and make projects and programs happen. Growing from an economy built on construction and tourism, the Gold Coast is diversifying into a knowledge-based economic environment with strengths in health and medical, education, food, marine and sport. I promote the Gold Coast’s activities to all levels of government, industry, business and community sectors to highlight competitive advantages and encourage decentralisation. I advise governments on critical issues affecting the Gold Coast, and emerging/current opportunities that can be harnessed with strategic intervention. Often this leads me to running workshops to build skills in the region, or other initiatives that support high priority projects. I also support the RDA Committee from a governance, finance, reporting and management point of view and am accountable for delivering outcomes that meet regional needs. Exciting projects underway that RDA Gold Coast are involved in include: • Additive Manufacturing Showcase - unlocking the power of personalised medicine through 3D printing - promoting Gold Coast-based businesses using AM to revolutionise their businesses. • Research initiative with Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct and Study Gold Coast to analyse the Gold Coast’s emerging graduate workforce • Leading the Regional Biomedical supply chain project • Business skills workshops series - eg. Win-Win Negotiations • Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards - acknowledging business achievement in the region Show less
