Bio
Tristan Louis
I found Happy Egypt through LinkedIn and discovered they are simply one of the best tour guides I've encountered anywhere in the world. In Cairo, we ended up doing all the basic highlights (pyramids, sphinx, Coptic Cairo, Muslim Cairo, Cairo Museum) and even found ways to squeeze in some extra unexpected pieces like Tanouki dancing and Jewish Cairo. In Luxor, Essam created an offering that took us not only to the most popular places (temple of Karnak, Luxor, and Hatshepsut, as well as the Valley of the Kings) but also to lesser-known sites like the Valley of the Workers and the Valley of the Queens (do get the Tomb of Nefertari option too as it will blow your mind away). Building on a narrative history line that tied it all together, Essam brought forth high level of knowledge about the history of not only ancient Egypt but all the way to current day, explaining the social, political, military, and historic interactions between all the players in a way that truly brought it all to life for my teenage (almost 14 year old) son. Essam's understanding of hieroglyphics and the ability to answer any questions we threw at him made this an unforgettable trip. We initially communicated over email to figure out a detailed customized itinerary and the team was super accommodating in making it all happen. Prices were fair and they even refunded us when one of the activities we were looking to do (balloon ride) was not available due to circumstances beyond their control (in our case, high winds that left balloons stranded). As not only guides but also hosts in the country, they ensured that we were well taken care of every step of the way, making recommendations to deal with GI issues (as westerners, our stomachs didn't always react well to food) and ensuring that we were happy every step of the way. They even through in a WiFi hotspot to ensure that we could communicate over Whatsapp and get on the internet while in the country. I have already decided that the next time I go back to Egypt, I will go to a single provider for all my trip and that has to be Happy Egypt. So stop your search, you've found the best!
