Assisted with the coordination and organisation of the Summer Conference, hosting an array of speakers and students discussing challenges faced by women in STEM workplaces. Had the amazing opportunity to take part in various workshops learning about the Natwest Group's culture and values as well as the different internship opportunities. I also took part in a group project regarding the Scottish Cancer Card with ideas being taken forward for consideration to be implemented. I was selected to be a patrol leader. This involved being in charge of 8 other scouts and listening to their feedback also. At the Jamboree itself this consisted of attending daily meetings as well as coordinating the food arrangements on selected days.

Communications Officer - WSJ Gloucestershire Unit

I was chosen to be a communications person for the unit, there were three people selected out of 45. Responsibilities included handling the Instagram and Facebook accounts and posting regularly. I was also given the opportunity to talk on the Gloucestershire Radio station about my experiences twice - at the Jamboree itself and then again afterwards in the studio.

WSJ Gloucestershire Unit Participant

I was one of the 45 young people selected to represent Gloucestershire out of 120 applicants. I had the challenge of raising £4000 to pay for both my ticket and help fund others from less fortunate backgrounds. I raised money by packing bags at supermarkets, assisting with car parking at events, working at Cutler & Bayliss and also funding from Cirencester Girls Club.

I was an active member of the Explorer group where I attended weekly meetings where we did an array of activities. I also helped to raise funds for the group by helping with car parking at a local event and litter picking at another.

World Scout Jamboree Participant

During my time at the Jamboree I had the opportunity to meet people from all around the world. I also participated in lots of activities including a zip wire course and water based sports. The trip allowed me to travel to New York City, Washington D.C and Ontario, Canada.

Due to my strong communication and team work skills I was chosen to become the leader for my patrol. This involved keeping morale high and coordinating my patrol. Other responsibilities included raising and lowering the flag to mark the start and end of each meeting.

I had the opportunity to attend the Danish National Jamboree (SJ 2017) where I was able to meet and interact with lots of different people. Within the Gloucestershire division I was elected to be the communications person for my patrol were it was my responsibility to pass messages from the leaders to the other Scouts.

Attended weekly meetings where I was taught fundamental skills such as first aid and survival skills. There was a lot of emphasis on working together as a group and promoting inclusion which are skills I have carried with me in my pathway. I was a year 7 prefect. This involved running events for the year 7 cohort aswell as helping with the year group's transition from primary to secondary school. I was also involved with conducting tours for prospective students at the open days and evenings where I would answer any questions concisely. I was also selected to deliver tours on an ad-hoc basis for students looking to join the school part way through the school year, this was an additional responsibility and I was selected to be part of this smaller team due to my excellent communication skills.
