  I was given the opportunity to join this fast-growing, internationally-known brand’s food safety and quality team. Due to the vast variety of production lines and facilities offered at Babylonstoren, I’m given the unique opportunity to be exposed to many aspects of the food industry, all at one place. My main focus areas are the juice plant, the nut facility and fresh produce. Additionally, I also had to assist in and was involved at the olive plant, the butchery, the dairy, the bakery and the production kitchen. My primary tasks includes, but is not limited to: - Developing and implementing HACCP-like food safety systems (procedures, forms etc) - Familiarising myself with the processing method of the facilities - Conducting weekly factory walkthroughs - Conducting monthly internal audits - Taking environmental & microbial swabs and samples - Assisting with resolving non-conformances & customer complaints via RCA methods - Creating/assisting with creating product specifications and accept reject criteria - Conducting weekly quality tastingsI was fortunate enough to be a part of two process audits for the olive plant – HACCP and shortly thereafter FSA. From a relations point of view, I learned how to work in a very large, dynamic group. I gained a lot of confidence working with highly experienced and talented individuals and I can truly say that my first formal job taught me valuable life and career-related skills. Show less
