Bio
Mikel Forcada
Elsa has worked as a developer in Connecting Europe Facility projects Paracrawl 2 and Paracrawl 3 (http://paracrawl.eu) of which I am partner IP at the Universitat d'Alacant for the last two years. During the first year she was junior programmer and then naturally progressed to senior programmer, supervising junior work. One outstanding trait of Elsa is that she is very self-demanding, and always capable of understanding any new problem and its implications, and subsequently tackling the associated programming challenges, almost regardless of programming language, and taking full responsibility. She has almost single-handedly written in C++ a critical text-extraction module in the Bitextor web-based parallel text collector (http://github.com/bitextor/bitextor), and made substantial contributions (including crucial optimizations) to other Bitextor modules written in Go, Python, C++ or bash. She's become an expert in the use of the Snakemake workflow management system and has been the main contributor to the complete redesign of Bitextor workflows and its storage organization. Furthermore, she has also had a key role in the packaging and distribution of the software (build procedure, dockerization). In addition to her technical capabilities, she is a great team member, with excellent communication and collaboration skills. I wholeheartedly recommend Elsa as a senior programmer in any project dealing with text harvesting, curation, and analysis, and, more generally, in any large-scale natural-language processing endeavour.
