The main goal of this lab was to work on total synthesis and organic synthesis methodology primarily pertaining to antibiotics and carbohydrates. In particular, I worked on a total synthesis project for a macromolecular antibiotic. My duties involved analyzing research papers, utilizing organic synthesis methodology, and attempting to create products in sequential steps towards building the final macromolecule. This job included the use of safe laboratory techniques, knowledge of organic synthesis techniques, and development of skills in data analysis when attempting to determine the fate of a given chemical reaction.
